Join a clinical research study evaluating the physiological benefits of diaphragmatic versus Pilates breathing combined with core strengthening to improve lung function, blood sugar levels, and quality of life.
This randomized controlled trial investigates the combined effects of specific breathing techniques and core strengthening exercises for individuals with Type II Diabetes to improve functional capacity and quality of life.
Addressing Type II Diabetes, a condition that can impact not only blood sugar levels but also lung elasticity, muscle strength, and overall physical health.
Participants will be randomly assigned to practice either Diaphragmatic or Pilates breathing, combined with core exercises, over a 6-week period while we monitor physiological benefits.
Review the general criteria below to see if this research study evaluating breathing techniques and core exercises might be a good fit for you.

A clinical trial is a research study that explores whether a medical strategy, treatment, or routine is safe and effective for humans. Participant safety is our absolute top priority. This study involves non-invasive exercises and breathing techniques, and you will be closely monitored by medical professionals from Foundation University Islamabad throughout your participation.
The active treatment regime for this study is distributed over the course of six weeks. During this time, you will be asked to perform core strengthening exercises combined with specific breathing techniques under the guidance of our study team.
Because this study focuses on physical exercises (core strengthening and controlled breathing), the risks are generally very low. You might experience mild muscle soreness or fatigue, similar to starting any new exercise routine. Our study team will closely monitor your physical response and adjust the routine if necessary to ensure your comfort.
Yes, your privacy is strictly protected. All personal and medical information collected during the study will be kept highly confidential, stored securely, and used solely for research purposes in accordance with all healthcare privacy laws.
Absolutely. Your participation is 100% voluntary. You have the right to choose to leave the study at any time, for any reason. Choosing not to participate or leaving early will not affect your regular medical care or your relationship with your doctors in any way.
Participants who qualify will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will practice Diaphragmatic breathing alongside core strengthening exercises, while the other group will practice Pilates breathing with core strengthening exercises. Both routines are designed to potentially improve lung function and physical capacity.
After completing the six-week program, we will conduct a final assessment of your pulmonary function, functional capacity, and blood sugar levels. Your contribution will provide valuable insights to help determine which breathing technique offers greater benefits for patients managing Type II diabetes.
