This study looks at using low-dose radiotherapy to help with bone pain in patients who have multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. Radiotherapy is a treatment that uses x-rays to kill cancer cells. The study tests if a lower dose of this treatment, specifically 2 Gy given over 2 days, can reduce pain. The aim is to see if this low dose is as good as the usual treatment and causes fewer side effects.

  • The study lasts up to 6 months, with follow-ups at 2, 4, and 8 weeks, and then at 6 months.
  • Participants will receive radiotherapy on two consecutive business days.
  • If there's no pain relief, additional treatment may be offered 4 weeks later.

To join, you must have multiple myeloma with painful bone metastasis and be able to understand and sign a consent form. You can't join if you have had prior radiation on the affected bone, have a fracture at that site, or are pregnant. This study may help improve pain management with fewer treatment side effects.
