This study tests a new treatment, varoglutamstat, for early Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Alzheimer's is a brain disorder that makes it hard to remember things. Varoglutamstat is a pill taken twice daily. The study is divided into two phases: Phase 2A and Phase 2B.
In Phase 2A, researchers will test three different doses of the drug to find the safest and most effective one. Participants will take the drug or a placebo (a pill that looks like the drug but doesn’t have any medicine) for at least 24 weeks. An EEG, a test that records brain activity, will be used to check changes in brain function.
If results are promising, the study will move to Phase 2B, which will involve more people and look at the long-term effects of the drug.
- Participate for at least 24 weeks with regular doctor visits.
- Participants should be between 50 to 89 years old and have early signs of Alzheimer’s.
- A study partner is required to help with study tasks and attend clinic visits.
