This study looks at whether eating a high-fiber diet with legumes (like beans) can help reduce obesity and lower the risk of colon cancer in people at high risk. Fiber is a part of food that our body doesn't digest. Instead, it helps our gut work better and can protect against diseases like cancer. When fiber is broken down in our gut, it helps make chemicals that keep our colon healthy. The study compares high-fiber diets to low-fiber ones to see changes in the body's cancer risk markers. Participants get special meals with lots of legumes for the first 6 months and manage their meals afterward. This study is for adults aged 40-75 who are overweight or have had colon polyps. They must be able to attend exams and tests and are willing to follow the diet plan.
- Participants receive pre-portioned meals for the first 6 months.
- The study lasts for one year.
- This study is for those at high risk for colon cancer.
