This research study aims to explore new treatment options for people with depression, especially those who have high levels of inflammation and anhedonia (a condition where one finds it hard to feel pleasure). Over 8 weeks, 70 participants aged 25-55 with depression will be randomly assigned to receive either L-DOPA, a medicine that affects brain chemicals, or a placebo (a "dummy" pill with no active ingredients). Participants will undergo various tests, including lab tests, medical exams, and brain scans using MRI (a special type of imaging to see inside the body). The study will take about 10 to 12 weeks to complete.
- Study lasts around 8 weeks, but total participation is up to 12 weeks.
- You'll undergo various tests and assessments, including MRI scans.
- No compensation is mentioned, but participation could help improve depression treatments.
