This study looks at how using a special tool called the ANI (Analgesia/Nociception Index) might help people recover better after maxillofacial surgery, a type of surgery on the face and jaw. The ANI measures how well pain is being managed during surgery. People who can join this study are adults (18 and older) having surgery on their upper jaw (maxillary), lower jaw (mandibular), or both. They must be able to agree to participate and answer questions about how they feel after surgery.
Some people cannot join this study, like those who have severe health problems (ASA physical status 4-5), need emergency surgery, have chronic pain, take certain pain medicines, or are pregnant.
- Length of Study: Participation involves undergoing your planned surgery with monitoring.
- Visits Needed: You will need to attend scheduled follow-up visits to assess recovery.
- Risks: There is a risk of side effects from anesthesia and pain medicines.
