This study looks at signs of bronchial asthma in kids and teenagers, which is when the small tubes in the lungs get narrow and hard to breathe. Common signs are coughing, feeling your chest is tight, shortness of breath (hard to breathe), and wheezing (a whistling sound). Sometimes kids might have a wet cough that keeps coming back, trouble breathing in, or get lung infections a lot. We’re checking these less common signs too.

Doctors diagnose asthma by checking if you have two or more common signs and if your breathing gets better with asthma medicine. For children under 5, just having a cough might mean asthma if breathing tests show it and medicine helps. This study also tests how well a popular asthma questions list, called ISAAC, works for both common and less common signs.

  • Children aged 3 to 18 can join if it’s their first time at a lung clinic with breathing problems.
  • Kids can't join if they have other serious health issues that affect breathing.
  • There are no mentions of risks, visits, or compensation in the study details.
