Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT) is a condition affecting nerves. This research, led by the New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF), aims to speed up CMT research and drug development. They collect cells from your body, like skin or blood, to make stem cells. Stem cells are special because they can turn into any cell needed for research. Scientists will also study your DNA, which is like a guidebook for how your body works. If something is wrong in a part of DNA called a gene, it can cause disease.
To join the study, you’ll fill out health forms, give a skin or blood sample, and a saliva sample for DNA analysis. You might be asked to give more info later. This study is not a clinical trial, so it's mainly about collecting and studying samples.
- The study is for people aged 5 and up, with or without CMT.
- You must consent, and minors need parent/guardian consent.
- Participants with certain health conditions may not be eligible.
