Cluster headaches are very painful headaches that happen on one side of the head. They can come and go in a pattern, often linked to the time of day (circadian rhythm) or year (circannual fashion). We don't fully understand why they stop and start. This study will use a test called High Density Electroencephalogram (HD-EEG) to look at brain activity. HD-EEG is a tool that measures the electrical signals in the brain, helping us understand how different parts of the brain connect with each other.
The study will compare brain activity in people with episodic cluster headaches during an active headache phase and a remission phase (when they are headache-free). It will also explore brain activity in those with chronic cluster headaches, who have headaches more frequently.
- Participants with episodic cluster headaches will have two visits, one during a headache period and one during a headache-free period.
- Each visit will include HD-EEG recordings, which are four 6-minute sessions.
- Participants must meet specific health criteria, and certain conditions will exclude them from participating.
