The Mindful Caregiver Project is a study for family members who take care of someone with dementia, a brain disease that affects memory. The study wants to see if an 8-week mindfulness program can help caregivers feel better emotionally, reduce stress (stress is a feeling of being worried or overwhelmed), and improve thinking skills like paying attention. Mindfulness means paying close attention to what you are doing in a calm way. The study will have 232 caregivers, all aged 50 or older. Participants will be split into three groups: mindfulness meditation (MM), psychoeducation (PSY, learning about psychology), or caregiver respite (CR, taking a break from caregiving). Participants will have three testing times: before the program starts, right after the 8 weeks, and 12 months later.
- Duration: The study lasts for about a year with an 8-week program.
- Visits: There are three testing sessions you need to attend.
- Requirements: You need a computer and internet access, and you should be ready to try any of the three groups.
