Hemp Fiber Ingestion and Gut Permeability After Exercise

Study on hemp fiber's effect on gut health post-exercise.

Recruiting
18-65 years
All
Phase N/A
The study examines how **hemp fiber bars** can help protect the gut during intense exercise. Hemp seeds have special compounds, NCT and NFT, that might improve gut health. **Gut permeability** means how easily things can pass through the gut wall, and too much can be bad. The study will see if eating hemp fiber bars for two weeks makes a difference in how the gut behaves during and after exercise. **Participants** will eat hemp bars or a placebo (a pretend treatment) daily for two weeks. Then, they will cycle intensely for 2.25 hours. Tests will measure gut changes using blood and urine samples. **Eligibility:** Cyclists aged 18-65, healthy, and able to cycle at a race pace. **Key Points:** - Study lasts for 10 weeks with multiple 2-week parts, including cycling sessions. - Participants will visit the lab 9 times for tests and cycling. - Must avoid certain foods and supplements for accurate results. Participants must be healthy, non-smokers, and agree to follow specific diet and exercise rules. Pregnant women or those with certain health issues cannot join.
