This study is about using a special method, called "Spot Delete," during proton therapy for treating prostate cancer. Proton therapy is a type of radiation treatment that uses protons (tiny particles) to kill cancer cells. The "Spot Delete" technique helps place these protons in a way that might reduce side effects in the bowel and bladder, such as diarrhea or bleeding. The study compares two groups: one using "Spot Delete" and one using regular placement.

  • This study involves random assignment to one of two treatment groups with potential side effects similar to regular proton therapy.
  • Participants must have prostate cancer and be willing to complete surveys about their symptoms.
  • People who have had previous radiation or certain bowel diseases are not eligible.

Both groups will receive proton therapy, but the "Spot Delete" group might have fewer side effects. However, there's a small chance that new or unexpected side effects could occur. The study aims to find out if "Spot Delete" makes proton therapy safer by reducing unwanted reactions in the bladder and bowel.
