Correlation of Serum Gasdermin-D and NLRP-3 Inflammasome Levels With GVHD Biomarkers and Endothelial Damage Markers in Graft-Versus-Host Disease

Studying blood markers to understand graft-versus-host disease better.

Phase N/A

This study looks at the connection between certain blood markers and a condition called GVHD in patients who have had a stem cell transplant for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). GVHD, or Graft-Versus-Host Disease, happens when the new stem cells attack the body. The study examines pyroptosis markers (like Gasdermin-D and NLRP-3), which are substances in the blood that indicate a type of cell death. It also looks at endothelial damage markers, which show blood vessel damage. These markers are checked at different times before and after the transplant to see if they can predict GVHD or other complications. Patients are monitored for up to two years.

  • Participants are monitored for up to two years.
  • Blood samples are taken multiple times before and after transplant.
  • Eligible participants must be 18 or older and have AML.

FAQs

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
