This study explores how to best diagnose adrenal insufficiency (AI) in people with liver cirrhosis (LC). AI means the adrenal glands don't make enough cortisol, a hormone that helps our body manage stress. LC is a condition where the liver is scarred and doesn't function well. Some symptoms of LC are tiredness, eating less, and stomach pain, which are also seen in AI. Sometimes, measuring cortisol isn't accurate in LC patients due to changes in certain proteins. Researchers think checking cortisol in saliva or using a special test called mass-spectrometry might be better. They will conduct a rapid ACTH stimulation test on 50 LC patients, collecting their blood and saliva to see which method gives the best cortisol level reading.
